Expansion news

Filed under: General — Awrr @ 12:12 pm

Steve sent out an email last night. Here are the relevant details:

Each JWRL team can choose to protect between 6-8 major leaguers and 5-7 minor leaguers, with the total amount equaling 13. Once you have a player chosen, you can pull back a player. In addition, no JWRL team can lose more than 5 players total.

Each expansion team will get 2 extra picks at the end of the spring minor league draft (they will have a 6th and 7th round).

It looks like I have the expansion owners lined up, and I will confirm everything with them, but, in the meantime, I need every owner to submit a list of protected players for the expansion draft by next Wednesday, March 1 at Noon (pacific time). As mentioned above, you can choose to protect between 6-8 major leaguers and 5-7 minor leaguers, but the total amount must be 13. Anyone who’s not included on your list is fair game for the expansion draft.

Here’s looking forward to meeting the new owners, and it looks like it’s time to get busy with freeze lists.
